CERTIFICATION OVERVIEW

The Florida Fire Officer 2 certification is designed for fire service professionals ready to advance beyond first-line supervision into a broader management and operational leadership role. Fire Officer 2 personnel build upon their company officer experience, taking on increased responsibility for managing personnel, coordinating organizational activities, and supervising multi-unit emergency incidents.

This certification pathway strengthens the leadership, management, planning, and decision-making skills needed to successfully transition from a supervising company officer to a managing fire officer and continue advancing within the fire service.

REQUIREMENTS

Must be an active firefighter and possess a Fire Officer 1 certification issued by the division.
Successfully complete state-approved certification training (the required courses are listed below).
Complete the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation course titled “Courage to Be Safe” as well as ICS-300: Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents.
Submit the required application for Fire Officer 2 Certification Examination through FireTRAQ, along with all required supporting documentation.
Submit the “Fire Officer 2 taskbook ” with the required signatures.
Pass the Fire Officer 2 Exam with a score of 70% or higher. For testing information click here.

CERTIFICATION PROCESS

Complete Courses

Finish the 5 required courses, along with “Courage to be Safe” and “ICS 300”.

Complete taskbook

Gather the required signatures for the Fire Officer 2 Taskbook.

Apply on FireTRAQ

Submit your application and required documentation.

Pass State Exam

Pass the state exam with a 70% or higher.

Become Certified

Receive your Fire Officer 2 certification.

Pedro is a great instructor and effectively covered all the material needed to pass the Final Exam with a perfect score.
